B4086* Charles X marquetry Tripod Table
the circular top inlaid with butterflies and stylised foliage, raised on a similarly-inlaid faceted baluster stem and tripod legs. Despite it's tantalising inscription, neither this table, nor indeed any similar pieces, appear in the Catalogue of the 1851 Great Exhibition and, stylistically, the present table would seem to pre-date the exhibition by about twenty years. Possibly the writer of the inscription was getting muddled as there were various "Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie" in Paris throughout the 1820s. The furniture-maker Francois Baudry, who worked in a very similar style to that of the present table, received the exhibition medal for the 1827 Exposition.
