A4436 Watercolour of the Lazienki Park, Warsaw
showing the Lazienki Bridge with the equestrian sculpture of John Sobieski, Ujazdowski Castle in the background. The bridge was built without the keystones to the arches as shown in the watercolour so it is, possibly, a projected design by Domenico Merlini (1730 - 1797) which was slightly changed in execution. The statue of John Sobieski crushing two Turks under the hooves of his mount was designed by Andre Le Brun, executed by Franciszek Pinck and unveiled in 1788. Ujazdowski was painted by Canaletto in 1775 and on the left of the picture is the Neo-classical facade visible in the present watercolour
